Kerala Holidays - Munnar


Vacationers from all corners of the world love to spend their holidays at this peaceful destination in Kerala. Some of the notable attractions to explore in and around Munnar are: 

Green hills surrounding this beautiful little village refresh you on your visit to Pothamedu. The place is known for its cardamom, coffee and tea plantations. Green hills surround the village. Pothamedu is about 6 kilometers from Munnar. Zigzag roads and scenic altitude-points typically mark the splendid location. For nature tours, this is perhaps the best destination to cover. 
Blessed by nature, Devikulam is the place to be in if you are looking for peace and tranquility. It is about 16 kilometers from Munnar. Devikulam is comparatively a smaller hill station in Kerala. The hill is about 1800 meters above the sea level. Devi Lake is blessed with natural mineral water. It lies at a distance of 7 kilometers from Munnar. Cool breeze and natural beauty with flora and fauna best describes this place. The area around the lake is ideal for picnics. It is also utilized for fishing activity. 

Another interesting location to check out during your Munnar visit is Mattupetty. It is about 13 kilometers from the Munnar Town. Lying 1700 meters above the sea level, Mattupetty offers panoramic views of the valley. It is mainly known for its storage masonry dam and the beautiful lake. One can enjoy boat rides at the lake and enjoy the views of the natural beauty surrounding the place. Mattupetty is also famous for Indo-Swiss Livestock Project, which is a world renowned dairy farm. Shola grasslands, tea plantations and lush green grasslands characterize this destination typically. 

If you love the splendors of nature, you must check out Attukal. The place is known for its long stretches of rising hills and waterfalls. It can be easily accessed from Munnar as well as Pallivasal, which is located between them. Visitors can enjoy long walks or go for trekking in the region. 


Located at a distance of 10 kilometers from Munnar, Nyayamakad is a wonderful holiday destination to check out during your Munnar visit. It can be easily accessed from Munnar as well from Rajamala. Nyayamakad is mainly known for its magnificent waterfalls. The cascade that rolls down the hills from a height of 1600 meters is worth a watch. The surroundings with their enchanting nature add to the beauty of the place making it an ideal choice for activities such as trekking and gatherings. 

Eravikulam National Park:
Another great attraction near Munnar is the well-known Eravikulam National Park. It lies at a distance of 15 kilometres from the hill station. The park occupies an area of 97 square kilometers. Eravikulam is known for sheltering endangered species and rare creatures such as rare butterflies, Nigeria Tahr and other birds and animals. The park looks at its best when the surrounding hill slopes get covered with Neelakurinji flowers. Then it seems like a blue carpet spread over the slopes. This is also a great place for adventure lovers who can take part in activities such as trekking and mountain biking.
